I have fished with Kat every year since she was 12 and spending time with her family, the Ignjatic’s, is one of my favourite days of the year. The river always seems to give us our muskies and papa George has a collage of family photos all over his office of great memories. Billy Jenkins, star of the Niagara Ice Dogs was my other boat partner for the day and I am proud to have introduced him to his first musky three years ago. That meeting has cost him a lot of money and given him a great new passion. He has the bug bad!

It was another hard work day. Good thing there was young people to coerce into throwing all day because that is what it was going to take apparently.

Sometimes they only give you a few chances over a day and that is why diligence, technical perfection at the side of the boat, and attention to detail make all the difference. We had one good shot in the late afternoon but it didn’t stick.

Yet another Disney fish story in the making. With darkness almost upon us, hope almost gone, and the bank about to foreclose on the farm, the river gave us this amazing bounty. The fish of a lifetime, so far.

It pleased me greatly to take this picture. I live to see the looks of total disbelief combined with a stupid musky grin that won’t go away for days. There were two of the best ones all summer as we waved goodbye in the parking lot. Kat’s mom Tanja told me it was there when she woke up the next morning too! Can’t wait to fish with the whole family again in September.
