MI16 with a Pair of Big Ones!

A short while ago I had the pleasure of hosting four musky boys from MI16, the Three Rivers chapter of Muskies Inc. out of Pittsburgh. Not so long ago this chapter boasted over 400 members and was the largest MI club in the US. With the success of the new Pennsylvania Muskie Max shows the past couple of years and the efforts of the Leopardi boys it won’t be long until Pittsburgh is number one again. I will be there speaking again at the 2016 version of the show on March 5 and 6. www.muskiemax.com/
I fished two days with the boys in tough August high pressure and we boated still boated some nice fish. Colonel Jeff not only got his first top water fish, he caught in on an underwater figure eight at boat side. Like many fish this time of year in the three and four feet of visibility we don’t get follows, we get show ups. That’s why we catch so many fish on the Ottawa at boat side. The guests don’t get to see the fish and a lot of the time you just see a golden flash, a giant head, and you are transformed from a world of dreamy repetition to an immediate five bell burner situation of chaos and mayhem. It’s the single greatest moment you can have in fresh water fishing!
Frank and the Colonel ended up with three on our first day out including this hog that Frank caught. The next day it was time for Mike to get a personal best ‘casting’ for muskies. He said the same thing over and over that I hear all summer long; ‘I have never had a musky on that was as strong as this one’. Our fish are genetically wide, deep, have oversize river-fish tails, and plain and simple they are pound for pound among the strongest muskies on earth..
Thanks guys for letting me introduce you to our little piece of musky heaven.
live in possibility,
