Last week we had big winds. Lots of 50 km stuff. It’s hard to cast in that stuff and trolling can be a productive way to go. But where to fish….
There are two schools of thought; the turmoil and chaos theory states that the biggest baddest fish in the water are very comfortable in extreme conditions. They take advantage of these settings and go to where the wind blows because they know emerald shiners and other baitfish are prone to being blown up in the shallows and on structure.
The second school of thought is that some big fish will seek relief in sheltered waters where they can lay down in peace and calm.
Both are right.
Here is a nice one caught in the calm on a big wave day and another caught where the waves were high.
Dress for it and stay safe and the fall will give you a giant musky.
