Best of 2015

After 35 days on the road that covered the water, roads, rain forest, and desert through Columbia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatamala, Mexico, and the west coast of the US, it is time to jump head long into the world of my musky addiction for another year. The goal is to cast up 200 muskies and the obsession begins in slightly over a month. There is so much to do!

Spencer Berman, whom I will be fishing with to start the season in the Detroit area in early May, told me a few years ago ‘you are only as good as your pictures’. There is a lot of truth in that because the musky community can be among the harshest critics on the planet if your fish looks smaller than what you claim. Fortunately for me making Ottawa River muskies look big, bad, and fat is never a problem because they are.

Here is a collection from last year that I hope will make your mouth water and inspire you to dream of what can be in 2016.

Before the catching begins I will be filming the first installments of the new Ottawa River Musky Factory video library. This will appear on the newly designed website (Thanks Ashley Rae!) and filming will be done in part with Christian Zimmer of the musky boys with guest spots from some of the biggest names in the outdoors and fishing world. It will be a teaching and reference tool with an emphasis on the ‘how to’ with respect to choosing and using equipment as well as understanding musky behaviour. If you understand it and them better they end up in your net a whole lot easier. Oh yeah, and the most important part of our game to understand; handling and release because every musky is special.

Stay tuned and I hope you enjoy the show.

peace out,
JA
