This 46 inch barracuda has been hanging out in a canal in front of my place. It is a thick fish for a cuda and I am guessing it is 25 pounds plus. I have dove with cudas a number of times but never caught one. I think I may do battle with this beast in the next day or two.

My question is this; I will have to hand land this fish. Can I grab it in the gill plate as if I were landing a musky without a net and not get cut?
